My Go To Tofu Recipe

IMG_0986.jpg

This is by far one of my favorite recipes to make. It’s super flavorful and pretty simple once you get the hang of cooking the tofu. This recipe includes how to cook the tofu along with how to make the sauce. I like this meal because it’s Vegan friendly, very filling, and super yummy.

Ingredients for the tofu:

  • 14 OZ extra firm tofu

  • 2 TBSP cornstarch

  • 1 TBSP sesame oil

Ingredients for the sauce:

  • 1/4 CUP low sodium soy sauce

  • 2 TBSP water

  • 2 TSP cornstarch

  • 2 TSP honey

  • 1 3/4 TSP chili garlic sauce

  • 1/2 TSP rice wine vinegar

Instructions:

First you’re going to need to drain the tofu for 40 minutes. Place the tofu on some paper towel on a plate. Place another layer of paper towel on top of it and then put something heavy like a pot or pan on top to press the tofu down a little. Keep it there for 20 minutes then come back switch out the paper towels for new ones, flip the tofu and then leave it for the last 20 minutes.

Next, slice the tofu in half horizontally and then cut into cubes. Place the cubes in a bowl where you’ll add the cornstarch and coat the tofu. Put a large skillet on medium heat and then add the sesame oil. Add the tofu to the skillet and then cook until golden brown.

You’re going to want to make the sauce while the tofu is cooking. Just add all listed ingredients into a small bowl and whisk until smooth. Then, when the tofu is golden brown you add the sauce to the pan and remove from heat once it thickens.

Serve with rice & green onion then enjoy!
